Timber Division - Kitchens & Cabinet Making

Timber Div - KitchenKitchens & Cabinet Making

James Latham first traded exotic hardwoods, including mahogany imported from Spanish colonies in Central America, Cuba through to Jamaica into Liverpool in 1757, at the very peak of the career of England's most celebrated cabinet maker, Thomas Chippendale.

James Latham has continued in business as an importer and distributor of timber for almost 250 years and has built an enviable reputation for the range and quality of its products, for the knowledge and expertise of its staff and for the service provided through its national network of depots.

Today, the company imports a range of species ideally suited to the demands of modern kitchen and cabinet making from over 30 countries spread across the globe and supplies them to many of the UK's leading kitchen and furniture manufacturers.  Working with our customers, we constantly seek our new species and source of supply to meet contemporary design and manufacturing challenges and to fulfill our forward thinking environmental policies.

FSC status has been awarded to all our depots and our range of FSC certified hardwood is constantly expanding as now approved sustainable sources are identified.  In many cases we are able to suggest FSC alternatives with similar qualities and characteristics to the non-certified species use traditionally.
