Sweet Chestnut

Latin Name : Castenea Sativa

Strongly resembles plain sawn oak, having a yellowish brown sapwood and darker brown heartwood, but no obvious medullary rays.  It is straight grained and fairly coarse in texture.  It is easy to work and gives an excellent finish.

Uses	Specification
Cabinet work, furniture manufacture, both internal and external joinery, flooring and boat building.	Imperial Measure Air or Kiln dried, available in thicknesses of 1"-4", with boards and planks sawn though and through/one square edge, in lengths of 8' and longer and widths of 6" and wider.
