At James Latham PLC, we are conscious of our corporate responsibilities to our stakeholders and to society as a whole. A substantial amount of management time is devoted to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. An important part of this is supporting good causes, through national charities, local causes and staff fundraising.

We commit to donating £20,000 per year to an environmental charity.  For many years, we have made this donation to The Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.

Founded in 1972, their vision is a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature. The Trust stands up for UK woodland through tree planting initiatives, campaigning for change, and restoring ancient woodland for the benefit of people, wildlife, and planet. The Woodland Trust now has over 1,000 woods in its care that are free to visit and enjoy.

National Forest

We have supported the National Forest since 2006 with events and tree plantings, and make an annual donation to them of £10,000. The National Forest is an area of the Midlands which had been left scarred by centuries of coal mining and heavy industry and is being regenerated into the first forest to be created in England for over 1000 years.

Group nominated charities

Each year, James Latham asks its staff to nominate and vote for one of five charities to receive a donation of £20,000.  In 2024 this donation was made to the Alzheimer's Society.  The four remaining charities receive £500 each and any others nominated but not placed into the vote receive £250 each.

In addition, we match donations raised by our staff members in any charitable endeavours up to a maximum of £500 per charity.  

James Latham team members are permitted to take one free day per year to volunteer their time to the charity of their choice.
