Added 10.04.17

James Latham has landed the Timber Trader of the Year title for an unprecedented 10th time at this year’s TTJ Awards after gaining the most votes across all awards categories.

The event, which was held at the Brewery in London, saw host and guest speaker, Steph McGovern - one of the most highly respected business and economics journalists on national television and radio - reveal the result to a packed room of more than 450 guests from across the industry.  This broke last year’s record attendance for the 20th anniversary of the awards by more than 30 people.

Chairman of James Latham Plc, Nick Latham and Latham Limited Managing Director, Chris Sutton were invited on to the stage to collect the award which was sponsored by the Timber Trade Federation.

Commenting on the result, Chris Sutton said, “Despite this being the 10th year we have won the top award in the TTJ Awards 21-year history, it means just as much to us today as it did the first time we received it and in fact serves as excellent motivation to continue to strive for excellence across all facets of our business.

“It’s a team effort and is a reflection and reward for the continued commitment and hard work from all our staff and I am extremely honoured and proud to be collecting it on behalf of everyone at James Latham. “

James Latham also sponsored two of the award categories this year, Joinery Product of the Year, which was won by XL Joinery of Batley in Yorkshire and the Lifetime Achievement Award, deservedly received by Geoff Rhodes and these were both presented on stage by Chris Sutton.

In addition, Toby Hughff, from the Timber sales team at James Latham’s Leeds depot was also a finalist in the ‘Young Trainee of the Year’ and was highly commended.

Earlier in the day, James Latham jointly sponsored a TTJ timber construction roundtable – Timber 2020: Building Britain – attended by London Assembly member Tony Devenish, officials from the department for communities and local government, architects, contractors, timber construction companies, timber traders and the wood protection industry.
